The American global Internet services and media company, AOL announced the launch of its innovative mobile third-party ad-service solution through Third Screen Media on August 4, 2008. AOL acquired Third Screen in 2007 and is the mobile ad-serving platform and network of its digital advertising business Platform-A. The new solution allows publishers the ability to access multiple networks and offer inventory across multiple ad networks through Third Screen Media. With this solution, Platform-A is introducing a groundbreaking “inventory partitioning” technology allows publishers to allocate inventory based on any combination of ad network, device subject area, and location, among other criteria. As compared to traditional third-party distribution systems that use campaign-based tools to allocate inventory, Platform-A’s solution will offer a range of highly targeted options for defining inventory allocation. With inventory partitioning, mobile publishers will have access to a Web-based interface that allows a single-view overview of their entire stock of inventory. The aim is to make the process of selling mobile inventory flexible and help publishers to monetize their advertising inventory and create additional revenue streams.
